Ocean 1—133 @ Roundhouse
London UK, September 21-24, 2006

Resources for musicians and technical crew

This is a first!

All previous performances of Ocean have been performed to Ocean 1-95, for 112 musicians. (As well as David Tudor's electronic score Soundings: Ocean Diary, of course.)

This performance will have 150 musicians, the number originally envisioned, meaning we will be playing Ocean 1-133 having two new layers (added to the original 5) of 19 compositions each, making 38 new compositions. Interestingly enough, we also need 38 extra players to get from 112 to 150. Coincidence.

Ocean Book Excerpt
The Ocean Book contains instructions, examples and tables that help people preparing Ocean 1-95 for performance. This link goes to an very abbreviated form of the book that has no examples or tables. But the text explanations are still pretty useful, and apply to Ocean 1-133 as well as to Ocean 1-95.

Musicians should read pages 4, 7 and 8 at the very least.

Chance Operations used for the Seating Plan
